    Dear Mayor and City Council,

A letter from Park City Soccer Club was submitted with your packet earlier this week addressing the impact on our event when the Extreme Cup tournament overlaps dates and shares venues with the Triple Crown tournament. That is our primary concern.

As a follow up and in response to now having been able to read the Staff report, I would like to address two secondary points:

    1. Park City Soccer Club has long sought a City Services Agreement and would like Council and Staff support to move into those discussions.

    2. The significant level of financial assistance provided to Triple Crown Sports by Park City Municipal in the form of fee waivers is staggering. As a local non-profit, serving the families of our community and closely aligned with the City’s social equity and sustainability goals, it seems very strange to us that a for-profit, out-of-state entity can receive assistance totaling $50,000 or more annually, yet the Extreme Cup receives less than $2,500 year, yet generates a similar economic impacts.

The Extreme Cup is a locally operated event which was established, like Triple Crown, in 2003. For years now we have documented over $2.8 million in direct spending annually, including lodging revenues totaling over $900,000. After years we have to ask why the City and Council would continue to invest so significantly in Triple Crown Sports yet provide much less support to Park City Soccer Club? Your consideration and allowance of us to further discuss this dynamic would be greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Shelley L. Gillwald
    PCSC Executive Director
