Hello Park City Council,
I’m writing in opposition to the excessive noise emitted from modified engine and muffler vehicles that drive around Park City. Having lived here since 2007, I have noticed an increase in the number of these types of vehicles in our community.
I live in Park City for the peacefulness of the mountains and appreciate the tranquil outdoors. Undoubtedly, there are numerous others that feel the same way.
Our community is growing and as more people and vehicles move to the area, they add to the overall level of noise in Park City. I’m concerned that we are diminishing the tranquility of why so many people enjoy Park City.
Productive Noise that benefits the community, as the inevitability of a growing community, is capable of being understood by all.
• Construction vehicles
• Snow Making and Moving equipment
• Garbage trucks
• Busses
• UPS trucks
• Landscapers
• Even Dogs, because they’re Dogs!
But Unproductive Noise, noise with no overarching community benefit, does harm to Park City.
Noise for the sake of noise, produced by a few individuals with their excessively loud modified engine and muffler vehicles, should not have to be endured by the overall citizenry in Park City.
As a condition, the vehicles could be temporarily un-modified to meet municipal standards.
I would propose that the Park City Council work with City Hall to create a straightforward overlay of the very thorough, but difficult to understand, Municipal Code (6-3 Noise). Doing so will help our community better understand the noise we encounter and what the real-world expectations should be for such noise.
My desired outcome would be a better understanding of the tolerance of noise in our community and that the Park City Council put a Stop to Unproductive Noise in city limits. Specifically, noise for the sake of noise, such as, modified engine and muffler vehicles within city limits of Park City, Utah.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
