I just learned that bus service on Royal St was discontinued. My neighbors and I did not receive notification of service cancellation.Service was also cancelled last summer without notice.Upper Deer Valley residents were not included in this process.Residents should not hear about a major change like this via word-of-mouth.We have been told:1.One email stated that the winter service was cancelled because of low ridership during the 2019-2020 winter.2.Another email said that a survey was conducted and that the results of that survey were the reason our service was cancelled. We weren't aware of this survey.3.We were told that there were PSAs on KPCW.Over 85% of the owners do not live here full-time thus would not be aware of these PSAs.4.A survey isn’t the same as public notice.Whether or not notice is mandatory in this situation, respect for residents would dictate sending notice to owners to include us in the conversation. The bus has been a lifeline for skiing, dining, shopping, Sundance and generally staying out of our cars.Property owners who have already rented their homes for the upcoming ski season made representations of being on the bus line. Some notice for these owners before they made bookings would have been courteous.Upper Deer Valley properties generate millions annually in property taxes. With low primary residency, there is low usage of City or County services.Transit is one that is used and valued.Without the bus, we are left with cars which is contrary to the community goals for emissions, traffic and parking. Why was this an all or nothing decision? There must be alternatives. Please include us in the process so we can work together to find a solution that works for everyone. I respectfully ask that, with the lack of notice and questionable process, service be restored to give all parties the opportunity to voice their concerns and explore alternatives. That would allow time to work on a solution that would serve the entire community.
