(A) Work Session, No Action Will Be Taken
The Planning Commission Nov 17th meeting on the PEG Development goes forward, maybe. Apparently, that is up to PEG. Per the applicant’s specific request, this work session was for PEG to continue presentations on transportation and parking. Is this a waste time? The City awaits their AECOM analyses which will include an operations model, cost per mile factor, and application to other projects. Other projects! Is this the progressive, far sighted, regional approach to transportation and parking promised by our new City leaders? Thank you to our Planners and Commissioners. The transportation and parking variables are many, and it is wise to analyze with the big picture in mind. It is particularly wise to include all parties, PEG, Vail, The City, Summit County, Deer Valley, et al.
At first, I was concerned that our tax dollars were paying for the AECOM study. After all PEG is responsible for off-site employee parking, for fewer underground parking stalls, and consequently for overflow parking. But, now I realize, all need to weigh in, including the City planners and leadership.
