I am a Thaynes Canyon resident and wholeheartedly support the recent treatment of the neighborhood as a "no cut-through" driving zone. Following the arrival of the Epic Pass, every year traffic along PayDay Drive, Thaynes Canyon Drive and Three Kings has gotten worse and worse with those cutting through the neighborhood to make their way to/from the Park City Mountain base during ski season. Those of us who live in the neighborhood have found many a day with long traffic lines. Not only does it create headaches getting to and from our homes but creates a safety hazard should emergency personnel need to get to a home. Many of those who use our streets as their transportation route to/from the mountain are not observing local speed limits in their rush to get a parking spot or their place in the lift lines. I applaud the city for putting up the recent signs prohibiting cut-through traffic in Thaynes Canyon and would urge our city councilors to remain committed to a no cut-through policy for our neighborhoods. While Council needs to work to solve the traffic issues along 224 and the parking issues at the base of the mountain (which directly lead to some of the traffic issues), giving in to those who wish to use our neighborhood as their alternative highway 224 is not the way to address those issues.
