I've often wondered why some festival hasn't set up shop in Prospector Square. There's a beautiful, tree-lined, off-street walkway that winds 250 yards among businesses and over a dozen restaurants. Hundreds of parking spaces in the city/PSPOA lots. Lots of room for pop-up booths. Utilities available. Rail Trail nearby. Short stroll from the high school parking lot. Short bus route to Park and Ride. Two hotels with indoor event space. Two adjacent strip centers with potential outdoor event space. Seems like a natural, but has never happened.
Given that there is community interest in continuing the Park Silly Market away from Main Street, the western Prospector neighborhood should be evaluated as a possible future site for the eent. This area has evolved to have heavily commercial and hospitality use with few residential units remaining. Eastern Prospector is residential, and it would seem logistically doable to protect it from event impacts.
